Breeding

Shrimp breeding basics for stable colonies

What actually helps a colony settle, breed, and raise more young shrimp.

Colonies breed most reliably when they are not constantly being disrupted. Stable parameters, mature surfaces, sensible feeding, and low predator pressure are more important than chasing “breeding tricks”.

  • Keep maintenance steady rather than dramatic.
  • Provide fine cover so shrimplets can graze away from adults and fish.
  • Prioritise stable minerals and clean water over aggressive cleaning routines.
  • Do not expect every female to carry successfully in a new or unsettled aquarium.

If your shrimp are surviving but not breeding, the aquarium may simply need more time and more consistency.
